Easter says, “He is the biggest dog friend I have ever had. He is an explorer like me.”
Hudson says, “She’s all joy and I found her first. I love her.”
My 20 year old cat Makia doesn’t feel so well. She’s been breathing heavy, rapid weight loss, throwing up and having soft stools. Chest X-rays look good!
Her symptoms are similar to Serafina’s six week ago. Serafina got better on the antibiotic Zenequin. Makia can not take that because she has a low threshold to seizures so she’s on Clavamox.
We are treating for listeria because of the Stella and Chewys food recall. I know they ate the recalled lot. Serafina is 100% better. Hoping for the same recovery for Makia.
Makia says, “I have been sick a lot of times, but have never been this nauseous. If my food made me sick, I’m a little angry. I usually don’t get angry. I know one day I’ll be in Heaven, but I want to live some more.
I hope all the butterflies in the world think of me as they are flying. I’m sure that energy will get me well. If you’re reading this, be a butterfly and send me love.”

Amika Needs A Home! She’s at German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County California www.GSROC.org
Five year old Amika was the beloved companion and best friend of a decorated Purple Heart Marine. He died without warning leaving her heartbroken and alone. She stayed by his side for 3 days until he was found.
She was then taken to a nearby shelter to await her fate. The staff at the shelter were crushed to see this beloved companion of a hero sit there day after day. Amika was out of time…
Luckily, the shelter reached out to GSROC in a last attempt to save this special girl. A volunteer rushed to save her.
Amika is a larger sized girl and about 5 years old.She is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She rides well in the car and likes to go for walks. She is very affectionate and loving.
GSROC promised Amika they would find her a family to love her and care for her. We owe it to not only Amika, but the hero who loved her and gave so much for our country. Please share. If you have any questions or would like to meet Amika please call Shawn at 714/206-9002 or email ShawnGSDRescue@aol.com
Don’t you love my bus! #greatestgiftever besides Stormy my dog that is #love #vwbus #67vwbus #homeawayfromhome #homeofthedogs #beachcar #barncar #simplepleasures
This is Wushu. She is 3 years old. I have known her since she was a small young pup. She’s my friend.
She says, “I know that you are always called in when I am trouble but I don’t feel like I am trouble this time. I feel like Mickey (Dog of Wushu’s person’s boyfriend) is really not wanting me around. I feel like he feels like no one should get close to his dad, even my mom. I say this is no problem let it be and
he says, “This is a problem. I like my alone time.”
… I go and hide because I don’t like myself when I am have Mickey around. I don’t like the feelings I have in my body. I have fear and I have an intense feeling to be mad, and I am not sure how to make it better.
*After the conflict resolution Wushu says,
“I would like to tell my mom that I really love her and I am really happy with our life together. I feel good about that. I feel like mom makes me smart. I hope to become friends with Mickey cause he is right enemies are not fun. They make you sick to your stomach.”
Wushu person writes: Laura, thank you again for your help. Before we could do anything after our conversation, there was an immediate, positive shift between Mickey and Wushu’s interactions. Their tolerance of each other continues to improve (gradually…as strong personalities sure need baby steps!), but we’re working on it. We shared burgers per Mickey’s request, go to new places, and this past weekend both of them did a great job at the beach (per Wushu’s request)!
