What to Do with a Broken Heart
Clues from Animalia
Serafina (cat) says, “Stretch, look in the mirror, and tell yourself you are beautiful. Get out in nature and enjoy the sun.”
Stormy (Aussie dog) says, “Make sure you eat good food and take care of your body. Breathe and care of yourself. Do the things you love the most.”
Bean (bunny) says, “Lie in the dirt and feel the ground. Look at the stars. Believe that the future will be okay.”
Luca (poodle) says, “I always think the best thing to do is to make sure that you are in a safe place, and then tell God you need help.”
Makia (cat) says, “I like to smell fresh catnip. Also it is nice to give a flower to the Buddha statue and to do something nice for someone else. That way you fill you heart up with helpfulness to others.”
Seamora (blue and gold parrot) says, “It is fun to get busy trying to crack a nut and also do climbing exercises around my cage. People can also do tasks that are difficult and move their bodies around obstacles. This will create confidence and make your heart remember you are love.”
Jubilee (appaloosa sport horse) says, “Chew on something and move your legs. That way, you won’t think about the sadness in your heart. Drink a lot of water and talk to a friend. Think about all the things you have to be grateful for, and remember that bad memories go away if you replace them with good ones.”
Ask for Help
Animals Do, and So Can You
Often when I am speaking with animals they talk about spirits on the other side that are around their people. In my experience, these spirits are mostly deceased loved ones, ancestors, or angelic creatures. Rarely are they negative entities. The animals tell us there are times when, in order to receive help and guidance from these beings, we must ask for it. We must consciously reach out for help.
Here I ask my animals, “How do we ask for help? Why do we have to ask for help? How do we know who to ask?’
Serafina, my gray cat, says, “If you feel trouble inside your chest and you can’t make a decision, that is a good time to ask. There are a lot of beings around each individual wanting a job to do, but they need to be directed. I know this because I see energetic movement around you when you ask for help.”
Stormy, my Aussie Dog: “If you don’t ask for help and try to control the situation yourself , it might get worse. You just need to have faith that someone hears you and wants to help you. The more you are kind to people and animals, the more advanced helpers you have on the other side. So it is important to be kind to other beings.
Bean, my black bunny: “It is important to trust your situation in someone else’s energetic space. Like, one time I decided I never wanted to be picked up again, and I asked an angel to tell my person, and now my person doesn’t pick me up anymore. I feel safer. I was too scared to tell my person [that’s me, Laura] myself because I didn’t want to disappoint her. She likes my fur against her face. Now she bends down to me to hug me.”
Seamora, my blue and gold parrot: “There are so many spirits in our house that sometimes I have to scream, because they are crowding the living room. One time there was an elephant in here, and I thought, ‘You are beautiful and big.’ All of the spirit animals would help my mom because they want the word about animals to get out. So if my mom asked, “All animals, please help me get the word out,” they would. Sometimes it’s surprising who is around.”
Jubilee, my appaloosa horse: “There are a lot of Native American spirits here and they want my mom to tie a hawk-feather in my mane. They say my life is important. They tell me to trust my mom, but sometimes I get scared because she is not a horse, nor is she here all the time. I was confused, but they have been telling me about having a mission in life, and they told me I have a good mission. I am excited for my life. Now I ask them to keep me company when I am lonely, and then I have a peace about me I didn’t have before. I like having spirits around.”
Makia, my cat: “I died and my mom screamed for help, and a powerful healer came in spirit and healed me. I am alive now. I know it is important to ask for help. Do you know you can request help for others and others will be helped too? It is important to believe this, because if you do, your life will be easier. You also have to say ‘Thank you’ a lot. When you are grateful, those spirits get a burst of refreshing energy. It reminds me of when I lived where the monarch butterflies migrated every year. If you ever sat in a field of thousands of monarchs you would believe in heaven, being loved, and gratitude.”
Making Wishes into Realities
Creating an intention for the behavior we want in an animal is extremely important
Intention is an active process. It creates a clear image in our mind and feeling in our body. It is an active, forward-moving process. It is visualizing exactly what we want and then moving persistently toward it.
For instance, if I would like a dog-aggressive dog to walk past a fenced yard that contains other dogs, I would create the clear intention of myself holding myself straight and confident while walking my dog, as she licks, blinks her eyes, and ignores the dogs behind the fence. I would hold this image strong before and during the walk past the fence.
If one falters and begins to succumb to anxiety or insecurity, the momentum of intention wavers. The images in your mind, the feelings in your body quickly disintegrate into a disorganized scramble of pictures and emotions. It takes only a moment before animals notice this change. This alone can make them fall to pieces. Perhaps aggressive dogs will start to lunge, your scared animal will start to shake or try to flee, and everyone will start to feel disconnected from each other and confused about what is safe and what is not safe.
We must be conscious of our intention at every moment. That will bring peace and positive action. We must also explain to our animal what our intention is and that we want them to join in on the creation. That way both parties are actively moving toward the same image of intention.
Here my animals talk about intention:
Makia, white cat, whose name means Energy Flows Where Attention Goes in Hawaiian. She says, “Intention brings happy surprises because the animal feels safe following the clear thought of someone they trust.”
Seamora, blue and gold macaw, says, “If someone has a bad intention around animals, it can haunt animals for a very long time. It can make them disturbed for many years. So please create good intentions for all animals.”
Bean, black bunny, says, “Sometimes people have intentions that go against an animal’s natural behavior. I think that people should study animal behavior so that they know how to create an intention properly.”
Stormy, Aussie dog, says, “Some animals have their own intention. So it is important to talk to them in a quiet environment and explain your intention and why you have it so that the animal can start to understand what is right action and what is instinct that may not be appropriate.”
Luca, poodle, says, “Sometimes I get excited, and I think a lot of different things. When you have clear intention, it is easier for me to understand what you want of me. But if your intention is not clear, then it is harder to be well behaved. “
Serafina, gray cat, says, “I have a lot of really good ideas. You have to pick one idea and focus on it. When you focus on that one idea, then it feels like a reality before you even practice it. I do this sometimes when I want Makia to lie peacefully next to me or if I want to jump on something high up.”
Jubilee, Appaloosa Sport Horse, says, “Intention is something that you always want to have a positive feeling in your body. It helps to have a good picture in your mind of what you want of yourself.”
Ziva the Bulldog says,
“Do you know that sassy woman’s house? I love going there cause she is clever and she knows how to get my mom and dad laughing.”
Bailey told her person,
“Mom there is no reason to be upset. “Practice smiling in the mirror.”
Cody said to her person from heaven,
“I think in a past life I was beaten … Mom, I needed my life with you so that I could have a steady person in my life that never gave up on me … I want her to know that. Mom, my life with you was enriching in the way that I learned to love and be loved.”
Cami the bulldog says,
“I am not really a dog. That is the problem. I kind of got stuck in this body. I think when I was in heaven I made a mistake. I mean I should of been a person.”
Though I must say she is a great dog!
I was telling Toby that he needs to watch and learn body language communication from other dogs.
He replied, “I am a watcher. Call me The Watcher”
Animals and the Afterlife
Ratatouille says to his people from heaven, “I want dad to know that I can sit on his shoulder and walk with him through life and with mommy too. I want her to know that I can snuggle up with her under the covers. I can watch over them.”

A Heart-to-Heart Talk
Saturday, March 2, 2013
During a meditation course, I had a vision of myself jumping a dark bay horse with white spots on her behind. Six months later, I decided to look for the horse and logged onto Dreamhorse.com. There she was. A 2.5-year-old appaloosa filly sport horse. I have a friend named Michal to whom I turn for all things horsey. Just my luck, this little filly lived in Oregon 15 minutes from Michal.
I am now the person of a very tall (16.2 hands, and growing), athletic, graceful, and very sweet horse. Her name is Jubilee.
Here I ask Jubilee about her life.
Laura: How do you feel about your life now?
My life is very different than it was before. Now I am in a big pasture with four other horses. They tell me what to do a lot and I don’t like that. I like to tell myself what to do. (She is the youngest, with the lowest status in the herd). But I like to be able to be with them and walk so much. I walk a lot now and I feel strong in my body. I feel my body is different. I notice that I can tell where there are holes in the ground from a distance. It looks darker and deeper – different than a shadow.”
What do you think about your relationship with me?
I feel happy to see you when you come. I feel like you teach me things that I never knew about humans. You teach me to pay attention to their thoughts and also to think things through. I think a lot when I am with you.
Your previous owner did a really good job of teaching you things. Is there anything you want to say about your old life in Oregon?
She taught me a lot. She always had a plan of what we were going to get done together and that made me feel safe and smart. She really liked me. She thought I was beautiful and I am happy for her and my old friends there. I miss Jelly Bean [filly Jubilee has known since she was a baby] a lot. I wish she were here. This place would do her good because she would be able to use her body more. She doesn’t get to use her body a lot. [Jubilee now is in pasture that is acres large, and in Oregon there is lot of ice on the ground at this time of year.]
What do you see our future as?
I don’t think about the future a lot because there is so much to think about in the present. But when I really think about it, I think that we will be jumping and I will be moving with really fancy steps. I feel like you are going to teach me something that not very many horses get to do. I am not sure what it is yet though. I also see the ocean and the waves and beach. I think you will teach me to swim. That sounds scary but also fun. [Yesterday, she wouldn’t walk through a puddle but she did play with that water in her trough.]
Did you know I had a dream of you before I found you?
Yes, because you told me. I also had a dream of you. That is why when I first saw you I came running over to you.
What was your dream?
I dreamed that you took me away in that big scary trailer and I came and met the horses I am out with now and you taught me cool tricks and you loved me forever.
Wow, that all will happen. Sometimes I think you are my childhood horse Excalibur. But then I am not sure. What do you think?
I think that Excalibur was very lucky to have you in her life but then very sad to lose you. I think it broke her heart.
That is true and it broke my heart, too. You didn’t answer my question.
I am just remembering being on the other side and not knowing if I would come back to life because I didn’t want it to be hard. I remember seeing you and feeling really happy and really sad at the same time. I remember other horses telling me it is okay, and that they will go with me and stay with me during life. I remember saying okay, if life will be easy. And here I am, but living in the herd is not always easy. Sometimes it is confusing. But it is not sad.
The horses you are talking about are Deacon, a thoroughbred, and Lovebug, a pony. They lived with Excalibur at our farm. I also had a vision of them coming with you to meet me. Are they with you now? Do you not know them well?
They are with me when I think of them. They are with me when I get scared or I feel alone, when the herd sends me a way. I feel them. Maybe I do know them better than I think. I will have to go back in my memories.
Jubilee, I am so happy you are with me. I will always be kind to you.
I believe you. I wish that you could tell the rest of my herd that you will take care of them forever.
I wish that too, Jubilee. We just have to envision them safe, happy, and loved for their lifetime. And that will be what they attract.
Then don’t worry about them. Because when you worry about them we worry.
OK, no worries. Only positive images and feelings of the future.
I am glad.
Reincarnation is extremely complex. For the past few years, I have been studying it extensively. Animals reincarnate back into their humans’ lives more often than one would expect. They do not always have the same temperament or characteristics as in their previous lives because they continuing evolving and growing on the other side (Heaven).
What fascinates me is that some animals remember their past lives but others do not. We humans are the same way. I believe that a part of enlightenment is bringing the awareness of our past lives along with the best of us into our present lives.
Right now, I am not 100% percent convinced that Jubilee is Excalibur, though I will say having Jubilee in my life is healing the past trauma of loosing Excalibur.
Something divine brought Jubilee and I together. I know this because it all fell together so easily. The dream, knowing when to look for her, her being near my friend in Oregon, her previous owner holding her for me while it took me three weeks to get there, the shipping, and finding a farm with pasture to keep her. That alone is a miracle to me. I am excited to see where this adventure leads.

From an Email From Whale And Dolphin Watch dated March 8, 2013
Today in San Diego, the California Coastal Commission said “NO” to the Navy and their plan to deploy bombs and sonar sound off the Coastline that would likely injure, maim or kill millions of cetaceans over the next 5 years. They said that the Navy’s position is inadequate and unsupported by facts. They also said that the Navy did not keep its agreements in the past and that there was no point in making a compromise with them. In attendance were Lyndia, Lance and Kim of Whale and Dolphin Watch, several representatives from NRDC, Greenpeace, many other ocean organizations and dozens of individuals from near and far.
Although the decision only affects California waters, it is still significant as it sets a major precedent for the whole country. This will have far reaching implications for what can be done next, and ultimately the safety of our cetacean friends, the health of our oceans and our planet. In this case, your participation may have shifted the tide that has so long moved in the direction of disrespect and outright disregard for our oceans. We hear from a major environmental organization that your signatures have energized this movement in a big way!!!
We are not done with this issue yet. This week end is our last chance for signatures on our petition to go to NOAA/National Marine Fisheries on Monday. Will you help us out?
Here’s what we want you to do next:
1. 1. Call and network with your friends and get them to sign this last petition
2. 2. Post on your Facebook page
3. 3. Go to our Facebook page and like us (link on our website)
4. 4. Sign up for ongoing information on our website to keep abreast of this issue

From the bottom of our hearts, we wanted to say a big ‘Thank You” for your signature on our petitions and your ongoing support. You are awesome people and we are deeply humbled by your support of our oceans.

What Do They Know About It?
Animals often bring me to wonder with their level of consciousness. They talk about their basic needs, and then surprise me with gems of wise insight. They often notice what makes us happy and what makes uncomfortable, frequently giving their people advice to be happy.
In honor of Valentines Day, I ask my animals their views on love.
Serafina, gray cat, says, “Love is listening to someone even though you do not feel like it. Love is being open to being wrong so that you can learn and grow with someone.”
Luca, medium poodle, says, “Love is finding friends that you enjoy playing with and love is learning when you are hurting someone and stopping it.”
Makia, white cat, says, “Love is being comfortable. Love is making sure others are comfortable. Love is compassion. Love is taking care of yourself and eating good food that will make you healthy.”
Bean, black bunny, says, “Love is helping someone through their fear. Love is being patient and kind even when you are in a hurry. Love is noticing when someone else is having a problem and taking a moment to ask if they are okay.”
Stormy, Aussie dog, says, “Love comes from the center of your heart. It is calm and caring. Love is feeling safe and comfortable in someone’s presence. Love is a sense of trust. Love is magical, because it can heal old wounds.”
Seamora, blue and gold macaw, says, “Love is welcoming someone into your home even though you weren’t expecting them. Love is feeling safe. Love is speaking quietly and calmly.”
Jubilee, young horse, says, “Love is being excited to see someone. Love is talking. Love is communicating so that you understand each other. Love is being grateful for what you have.”
Watch Your Mind
Saturday, February 9, 2013
People receive telepathic communication from animals in about four different ways.
1. Images. Images can flash into your mind’s eye. It can be one picture or it can look like a film. For instance, if a dog is telling you they like string cheese, you will see string cheese in your mind’s eye.
2. Feelings. Sensitive people very often pick up the feelings of others in their own bodies without even realizing it. If the person next to them is feeling anxious, they too may become anxious. Animals can send these feelings to us to help us understand where they have pain. All of a sudden, your stomach or your shoulder may hurt when you are near an animal. It may be their pain reflecting in your body.
3. A sense of knowing. Some people just know what their animal is thinking and feeling. They can’t explain it. They just know.
4. Words. Some animal communicators hear words in their mind when an animal is talking to them. This is the main way that I receive messages from animals. Somehow my mind translates the images in my mind, feelings in my body, and a sense of knowing very quickly into words. It sounds as if I am whispering to myself except it has a subtly different feeling to it. It doesn’t “feel” like it is coming from me.
The average animal owner can receive messages telepathically from animal companions. It just takes the knowledge to recognize that a thought, image, or feeling in your body was not yours and came from your pet. Often it is so clear there is no denying it. But more often than not it is very subtle.
A person must do a lot of self-exploration in order to be extremely accurate. You must study your mind and body and constantly be asking yourself, “Where did that come from?” It is like tuning a radio dial. Once you know the station your animals are on, it becomes a bit easier, but even for an experienced communicator the lines can get blurry. You must be dedicated to exploring your thoughts. The thoughts in your head can come from many sources. Below are a few.
1. It can come from the animal.
2. It can come from your own associations or assumptions. For instance, your dog hides when there is thunder outside so you think say your dog is telling you they are scared of the loud noises. This may be true, but it could also be the electricity in the air or other reasons.
3. It can come from you reading your animal’s body language, rather than the animal telling you.
4. It can come from a higher power or a guide.
5. For people who study the occult, or dabble in other psychic realms: It can be a spirit tricking you.
So how do you start knowing which is which? Dissect your mind. Pay attention. Always ask yourself where that thought, image, or feeling came from – not just when you are with the animal but all the time.
When you are standing in line at the grocery store, what are you thinking, feeling, and seeing in your mind’s eye?
You will start to notice things. Like on your drive to dinner, you were feeling really good and energetic but when you got to the dinner table and sat next to your friend’s husband you all of sudden felt depressed and lethargic. Perhaps that is not your feeling but his.
Or maybe, when you are falling asleep at night, all of sudden you see an image of your dog’s water bowl raised. Where did that come from? Perhaps your dog wants you to raise his water. Did you have a feeling in your body when you saw that image? Does his head, neck, or back hurt when he bends his neck down to drink?
You can also free-write. I love this exercise. I have been doing this with my animals since I was a little girl. You can ask your animal a question and then for six minutes just write. Don’t judge what you are writing or correct spelling, just write, and at the end of the six minutes, read your writing. In there will be thoughts from both you and your animal. Which is which? When my childhood dog died, I wrote a letter to my dog and then I wrote a letter from him to me. I know I channeled him in that writing. It can be a very powerful experience.
Meditation and yoga are also wonderful ways to free your restrictions and start knowing your mind.
The most important thing is to have fun with it. There are times when watching your mind is exhilarating and extraordinary as you watch your consciousness grow. Other times, it is frustrating, such as when you find again and again the same negative thoughts, or when you realize that an event that happened 30 years ago is still bringing up unhappy feelings. But the more you acknowledge your mental processes, and start focusing on what you want to learn, the more the “negative stuff” is weeded out.
Your animals will help you with this. Ask them to send you images, thoughts, and feelings. Sometimes you have to be clear to your animal about how you want them to send their thoughts.
Makia, my 17-year-old cat, is extremely tough. She has a very high pain tolerance. This year, she had an infection in her jaw but I did not know it. I could tell that she was not feeling well, so I asked her, “Makia, how are you feeling.”
“I am fine.” She responded.
I knew she was not fine, so I asked again.
“Mom, I am fine really. I am just tired.”
But I could see it. She was off and her eyes looked like she was in pain. I asked her, “Makia, send the feeling in your body to my body.”
She did, and it hit me hard. My jaw hurt so bad that I didn’t think I could open it. I felt dizzy, feverish, and nauseous. Makia was in the car to the vet in minutes and operated on the same day.
Why didn’t she just tell me? She doesn’t want to worry me, she doesn’t want to go to the vet’s, and her pain tolerance is high.
Experiment with your animals. Ask them to send in different ways. Know that they do not have to be looking at you. They can multitask just like us. Tell your animal to send you the image, feeling, or thoughts over and over again. Tell them to be really clear.
If you don’t get anything back, know that it is possible that you maybe trying too hard. Its okay: Your mind will save the information you receive and play it again when you are more relaxed. It may pop up when you are in the shower, meditating, or falling asleep. Pay attention when it does.
Have fun with it. Now go watch your thoughts and talk to the animals.
