Looking for Something
Tag Archives: MAKIA
This is my late cat Makia. When she was 15 she said,
“Love is when you care about yourself first thing in the morning. If you love yourself it is easier to love others. Love is caring about your space and the foods you eat. Love is watching a butterfly fly to a flower.”
note: The first year of Makia’s life we lived in the path of the Monarchs migration. Daily we saw hundreds of butterflies. Even at 21 years old, Makia talked about attracting butterflies. She now manifests herself as a white butterfly in my front yard to let me know she is still around. When I first adopted her I was deep in the study of healing. I named her Makia after the 3rd Huna Principle of Life . “Energy Flows Where Attention Goes.”
Makia was an embodiment of that principle her whole life.
The 7 fundamental principles of Huna are:
IKE – The world is what you think it is
KALA – There are no limits, everything is possible
MAKIA – Energy flows where attention goes
MANAWA – Now is the moment of power
ALOHA – To love is to be happy with
MANA – All power comes from within
PONO – Effectiveness is the measure of truth
On 1/4/09 she said, “I want to tell all the people that are reading this that they should do something to change the world. But before they do that they need to know what they love the most. Once you figure out what you love the most then use that to change the world. When I say change the world, I am not saying to move things to different places. I mean to help all the beings that are suffering to be happy.”
She did have a true Buddha nature.
Storm King (Aussie Dog): Love means light energy flowing from your heart to anyone you look at or communicate with.
Joey (Cat): Love means being able to sense when someone is worried and upset and being in their presence so that they feel like they have a friend nearby.
Bean (Bunny): Love means when you need someone to do something you ask them gently and calmly instead of scaring them or forcing them into action.
Shelley (Sheep): Love means someone supporting your will to live even if they think you may die.
Seamore (Parrot): Love is letting someone go when you know you are not the best for them.
Z (Zebra): Love is nature. Love is the warmth of the sun after a hard rain.
Jezzie (Pig): Love is someone helping you to see when you are blind.
Reilly (Horse): Love is someone speaking in your best interest when you cannot speak for yourself.
Makia (Cat): Love is privacy and alone time to mediate and be yourself. Love is what one must find inside of themselves in order to live happily with others.
Serafina (cat): Love is finding ways to turn fear into courage. Love is when my mom kisses my head and tells me I am beautiful and it is the way one tends to the flowers. Love is also the way the birds look at my mom after she has filled the feeders.
Mr. Squirrelly: Love is remembering someone everyday even after they have been dead along time. Love is being thankful for what your body can sense: like the feel of a healthy oak tree or a hawk on its way. Love is breath. Love is enjoying playing with the younger ones even though your body feels stiff.
Maia (Wolf-Dog): Love is wanting to live with your family even though you know heaven is best for you. Love is wanting to protect your territory and do your job no matter how you are feeling. Love is family. Love is being faithful and present to the ones you love. Love is increased when one forgives themselves and others.
MAKIA’S FIRST DIARY ENTRY:
“I want to tell all the people that are reading this that they should do something to change the world. But before they do that they need to know what they love the most. Once you figure out what you love the most then use that to change the world. When I say change the world I am not saying to move things to diffent places I mean to help all the beings that are suffering to be happy.
Also I want to tell you all that my mom picked up a dead cat from the street today and put him on the side of the road wrapped in a towel so that he’s person will find him at peace rather than his body squashed by passing cars. Everytime my mom does this she comes home and lectures me about not crossing the street. Listen, lecturing your kitty does not work. Your kitty may still cross the road. It is important to tell your cat to look both ways before crossing and to make sure that nothing is in the road. There should be no cars in sight when you cross the road. Tell your cats that rather than dont cross the road.
My mom is getting upset because she is typing this for me and she is feeling upset with me because she has a rule that says I am not allowed to cross the street. I know she is upset, but I am smart and I stay safe. Now my mom wants to lecture me, but she is allowing me to speak through her intead.
Do you see me with the Buddha? I pray everyday that I will live a long time so that I can learn how to help animals through my mom. I travel to distant places in my mind. Sometimes I go to a Buddhist temple and pray to the Buddha there. There my spirit glows really bright. If you close your eyes and concentrate on one thing or place that is where you go. “Makia” means energy flows where attention goes. I can do that with my spirit. Try it, but go someplace that helps you grow as a person or animal.”
Makia says, “Mom you better get to work. Your muse is here.”
I say, “My muse is here? What does my muse look like?”
Makia says, “Mom, he is really handsome. If he were alive you would be in love with him.”
