Looking for Something

Communication between species. Wild animals often talk to our domesticated ones. Clyde does have a very approachable personality. Clyde says. “The wild birds come to visit me all the time. They say they like to watch me and the other animals in the yard. They told me about your other bunny (Bean) before me. They told me she was smaller and all black. How long will I live here with you? They say she lived here a long time until she got very old. I hope I live here a long time.”
Bean my bunny says, “I feel so much better when I spend time outside. When I connect with nature, I feel healthy in my mind, body and spirit. All is important. Take care of yourself and do what you love.”
My bunny Bean says, “Everyday take your supplements, make sure you look pretty and enjoy the outdoors.”

Bean my bunny says,
“Good morning! Everyone should give their bunnies time outside.”
Bean has access to my back yard everyday but chooses to go outside every other day. She usually goes out early morning to late afternoon. I have a garden planted for her so she digs up carrots, eats parsley and sleeps behind her favorite flowering bush. This picture is taken next to the bird feeder where she hangs out early morning.
I ask my animals,
“What words of wisdom do you have for me this morning?”
Stormy, my 12-year-young Aussie dog, says, “Sometimes when you don’t feel like it, it is best to get up and go for a walk. Also sometimes when you are lonely, you may need a hug from your animal. I think there is an answer to every question.”
Makia, my 17-year-old pure white cat, says, “Sometimes when I feel like my senses are leaving me, I go and lie near the bamboo and I pretend I can hear them blowing in the wind and then God makes a big gust of wind come so I can hear the sound for real. Angels help you if you help yourself.”
Serafina, my 8-year-old slate gray cat with beautiful eyes, says, “I think it is best to always smile at others. I smile by lifting my head up and making my eyes look bright. When I do this to other animals they treat me better. I make my eyes look bright by thinking something good about the other being.”
Bean, my 7-year-old big black bunny, says, “It is important to learn to communicate so others understand you. Not everyone can read my mind, so sometimes I have to stamp a foot or run toward someone to say how I am feeling. Other times I just have to be patient and wait and then they will figure it out. I have learned the best way to communicate with humans is to think what I want over and over again, and when they start to understand, just be still; but if they don’t understand, it is best to charge them so they keep trying to figure it out. This I do with my pet sitters.”
Storm now adds, “I think the best way to communicate with humans is by looking at them and saying what I feel and need through my heart. Most humans like to feel animals near their heart, so they figure it out.”
Luca, my 10-month-old, cream-colored small standard poodle, says, “I have learned that I have a voice that keeps barking, and when Mom tells me to be quiet, sometimes my mind hears her but my voice does not stop. I am not sure how to figure that out yet, but I am going to keep trying.”
Joey, my cat in heaven, says, “Do good things in the world and believe that there are others helping you. Be patient and everything you need will come to you. If you keep looking and searching randomly, you will throw off the magnetism. Sometimes you have to let a thought go in order for the right situation to happen. When people are used to things not working out, their depression stops good things from happening. Believe in change.”
Maia, my wolf dog in heaven, says, “We all have past lives that are being integrated with our lives on Earth. Know that if you strive to understand others and are compassionate, the best of you in a past life will all of a sudden ignite in the best of you in this life. Meaning you can have spontaneous gifts of knowledge. Believe in the possibility that your mind and body can for, instance, quickly expand to be more intelligent or flexible.”
“I am not a fighter”
“my favorite treat is a carrot hidden in lettuce” (but his people think he means an unpeeled banana, he gets in the fruit basket and he takes them)
“I just want a friend to lie down next to so I don’t feel alone”
“I like to run around the chickens in opposite directions”
“my favorite chicken is the yellow one”
“I chase the cats so that maybe they will chase me back”.

Bun Bun now lives in Santa Barbara, CA
This is Beanie the bunny. I found her hopping close to a busy street early one morning close to the center of town. She was right in front of a store called the Hair Company. There were wild bunnies pleading to me to save Bean from running into traffic. She is very well-traveled. She has flown to cross-country two times.
Bean says, “My house is a very interesting house if you are a bunny. I have a deluxe pen. I know that no other bunnies have such a wonderful pen then I do. I know this because once when I went away I went to a place my mom calls bunny camp. There they taught me how to do a trick and they gave me fun things to play with. I had a great pen there with many toys and I got to see and meet other bunnies. We talked about our pens at home and I definitely had the coolest pen. I remember I had to stand on wire when I was younger and that is very bad for a bunny because it hurts our paws. It is like if you stood on wire. It is uncomfortable. The other thing is you feel you can not breath in a place like that. You should have a pen. My pen has a ottoman in it. I lie on it most of the day so I can look outside the window.
* bean to be continued…we have a visitor….a few days later…
I think of spirits from time to time, because my mom thinks of them. We had a lot of animals that died in the back yard before we lived here. There were dogs under the house. I know this because I used to see them. They would look at me playing in the yard and want to chase me but be scared to come out from under the house. Then one day my mom when to the mountains and said a pray for herself and the house and for all the spirits in the house. She meant the live animals but it helped the dead ones too. And then they burst out from under the house and disappeared like fog when the sun gets hot. It was beautiful. Now those dogs like to look down on us and protect me when a hawk flies in the yard. Their spirit runs to me and say, “Go hide. You have no time to look up.” Then when it is safe they tell me I can come out and play again. So many things happen here my mom doesn’t know about. She doesn’t have time to listen to all our stories.
Bean went missing one day before I had to rush off to Malibu for work. When I first tuned into her she said, “What if a hawk caught me?” Which had me frantically searching our little yard for a hiding black bunny.
She has tunnels that I imagine are dug all the way to the golf course four blocks away. I stuck a broom handle as far as it could go and felt no Hiding Bunny Bean.
Storm King the Aussie / Bunny Herder was on it and he too couldn’t sniff her out.
Finally I walked next store to the park and found myself stopped along the fence. “Hi Mom” I hear from behind my fence and there is little Bean with her tiny rabbit eyes and whiskers peering out at me from a crack in the wood fencing. She was between a wood fence and garden fence. Both on our property.
“Beanie please come out”. “No mom,” she answered back, “It’s hot and nice and cool in here.” Finally, I convinced her while standing on a chair pushing her out with the broom.
