This is Captain. He is two years old. He says, “Do you have wisdom inside of yourself? My wisdom is sometimes confusing. Sometimes I feel like I should bark, and other times I feel like I shouldn’t. I don’t know which to follow.”

Captain is so cute. How he is feeling is common for young high drive working dogs. They have the instincts to do a particular behavior and the understanding that some behaviors may be inappropriate. It is up to us humans to stop the inappropriate behavior and guide them to the correct behavior. This can take a lot of repetition on our part. It’s helpful to know the animal’s triggers and then catch the behavior before it happens.
