This is Taz. He is eleven months old. He says, “I am confused about kitchen time. What is the deal with pushing me into that one area? What am I supposed to do there?” His people are using an area in the kitchen to give him a time out when he is getting over-excited. I explained to him that it is a place where he can calm down. He replies, “That is a funny place. The calmest place for me is in the corner by that tv stand.” The place he is referring to is upstairs in their bedroom.
Taz is really smart because he is trying to understand what is best for him and offering options. I suggested that his people get him a travel bed and teach him a settle command. That way, he can learn to settle wherever they bring it. So dogs need their own place to help them out.
