My lovely cat Makia. She is 17 years old. I adopted her at Santa Barbara Animal Regulation when she was less than a year old. A woman and her daughter was looking at her deciding if they were going to adopt her. I stood off to the side wishing she was mine. They decided not to adopt her because Makia (then Pooka) was not vocal when the mother & child left, I picked up Makia and she went “meow, meow”.
