MAIA’S FIRST DIARY ENTRY

THE MOST ALERT DOG EVER!

Maia is my high percentage wolf dog.  Her claim to fame is that she is 14 years old and a 5 year cancer survivor.  See how her left ear goes backwards.  That is because she does not have an ear canal in that ear.  Her tumors were at the base of the canal connected to the skull.  This is what Maia has to say,

“If I could say anything to all the people who read your blog it would be that sometimes you may think your dog is going to die and then they don’t.  You shouldnt worry.  One of the things that I learned when I spent many nights at the hospital is that there are a lot of angels that watch over animals in the hospital.  I don’t just mean people with wings.  There are little sparkly dust that shine in the light and they help heal when the doctors are operating.  And there are dogs and cats that have passed away that come for their friends so that when an animal dies they don’t get lost going to heaven.  I have been to heaven many times.  I go there and chase deer in the forest.  When I was younger we lived in the woods and through the woods was our very own lake.  Mom, Storm and I would swim there everyday that was warm and when it was cold we would walk out on the ice.  There was the most beautiful stone walls there.  We had a very old two-story house.  It was the first time I had seen stairs.  There was a ghost dog there that when mom found out about it she told it to go to heaven and it took a long time till it finally did.  It was an irish wolfhound and it would want to eat my food but it couldn’t chew or taste anything.  There was a pond in the front yard, but I never swam in there because one time I did and mom hosed me off.  She never hosed me off when I swam in the lake.  Anyway, at night-time mom would put this orange reflective vest on me and let me run.  I would chase deer for hours.  It was so much fun because I could run as fast as them and I would jump over the stone walls and run through the forest all the way around the lake until I was home again.  I would sleep so well.  The deer liked me to chase them.  They would come because we had a garden.  I had a dad then and he would plant the most amazing garden.  It smelled so nice and fresh.  The deer would sneak in to the garden and eat.  Did I tell you that my two cats would go on walks with us to the lake and mom would tell us to watch out for coyotes and we would and one time I saved Joey (cat) life because he was screaming to me in his head that he was trapped and I started barking and mom let me out and a coyote had joey between a rock and a chain link fence.  I was so happy I saved his life.  That was in california.  The house with the lake was in Conn.  That was far away.  Any way in my dreams and when I kept dying and coming back to life I would go to that house.  That is the house where Stormy came to us as a puppy.  You know what else we would do when we lived at that house.  My dad then had a boat and we would go on long trips on the boat and I learned how to go the bathroom on the boat.  That was very unnatural.  But It was neat because then my dad would just hose it off and scrub and you couldn’t even tell.  Not like grass where it smells for  a long time.  I loved that house.  This house has a small yard and sometimes we all miss the woods.  The leaves would change color and their were always the best sticks to chew on.  California has sticks that don’t taste very good.  They are flakey or something.  Conn.  has silky tasting sticks.  Have you felt the moon lately?  The moon was angry the other day, but it is calming down.  An angry moon makes people either cry or fight.  It used to make me want to run more, but now I would rather sleep and meet the angels that will help me die when I am ready.
