Dhatri

Dhatri

Dhatri’s person writes: Thank you, so much Laura. You are extraordinary. It was such a help to “communicate in words” with Dhatri.

Dhatri is a 6 year old rescue from DAWG. He hadn’t had a home for 4 years. He was picked up as a stray and put in kennels in Santa Maria, and then he was at DAWG for 9 months.

I’ve been blessed to have Dhatri for 4 months and he is an angel. Enclosed are some of the things he said that deeply touched my heart and the hearts of those that know Dhatri, and who knew him at DAWG. x o x o

Dhatri said: “My mom when she talks to me and when she pets me I feel safe. I told everyone at DAWG that this mom is the best mom for me. I looked at them in the eye and I said it over and over and they had a meeting and they agreed. [This was verified by Dhatri’s Foster mom at DAWG!]

I have had an easier time of leaving the kennel behind cause my mom is really sure of herself in the way that she cares for me. Though sometimes I hear what sounds like a chain-link gate closing and I am thrown right back there with all that pee smell and the barking dogs. (Like Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, Laura said.) I have tried to leave my barking there. I didn’t want to take it with me. It is like screaming without a voice. I have a voice. My mom she comforts me all the time. I am happy and I know I am not going back.”
