What Is Your Passion or Your Story:
I met Laura because she talked with several of my own dogs, which are all rescues, and then I started having her listen to dogs that didn’t have homes yet. When you have dogs that have made it out of a shelter only to be abandoned yet again by rescues or adopters, they have to board to stay safe and this isn’t just expensive, it is very difficult and confusing for the dog, too.

Helping dogs any way I can is what drives me, and I appreciate that Laura’s abilities have made such a positive impact.

What Do You Want Us To Mention On The Show or Ask You
Friends of Irving Animal Services Foundation is a non-profit created to help as many dogs as possible reach the safety of loving and responsible homes. We are not a rescue that takes in dogs ourselves, though most of us have fosters in our homes that were abandoned by adopters or rescues. Instead, we use the power of a large social network to get the dogs the exposure they need and then tirelessly assist rescues and adopters with funding, medical care, transport and whatever else we possibly can supply or do to help save these precious lives.

Instead of just telling people they should adopt their next pet and take proper care of them, we focus on the practical actions that help make these things happen. It is our goal to make our shelter, Irving Animal Services, the first genuinely “no-kill” municipal shelter in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. If we can do it we hope to be a model for other shelters to follow. Others are already using our format to network and fund their shelter pets, so we believe it is just a matter of time and persistence before it becomes a wonderful reality. We know no matter how hard we may try, it’s a community effort.

Trooper Needs A Home

History or Story
Trooper came to a Dallas-area shelter with what appears to be a deliberate chemical burn along his spine and despite his winning personality Trooper was constantly overlooked by adopters and rescues alike…who knows why, maybe his breed, his size, his beautiful black fur, the fact that he didn’t look perfect. His angel Jennifer rescued him and got him healthy but he has been boarding for months now with no interest. He is very friendly and loveable and really needs his own home and people to love.
Questions You Would Like To Ask The Animal
How did you become a stray? What happened to your back? Why do you not like other dogs…and do you think you could live in a home with other dogs and if so, what kind/sex would make you most at ease? What kind of owner would make you happiest? Is there anything you want to tell us, anything you need or that bothers you?
Anything else?
Trooper has his own facebook page! It is called A Forever Home for Trooper. If you would like to inquire about Trooper, this is the best place to do it, or email iasfriend@gmail.com
You can make a tax-deductible contribution to Trooper’s boarding expenses through the Friends of Irving Animal Services Foundation. The PayPal address is iasfriend@gmail.com, or send a check to the address provided above. Or you can go to our Facebook page and look at the wonderful pets still desperately in need of a home before Christmas and choose a dog that is in need of assistance and sponsor that dog directly…or adopt!
Every single cent is used to help needy dogs; we are all volunteers and we pay the administrative overhead out of our own pockets so that the generosity of kind people can go farther to helping dogs like Trooper.

  1. Dear Laura,

my chatroom name is Bubu, I’m a female from Germany and I’m the one whose Jack Russel Mix you talked to on your last show.
Her name was Sophie and she passed away this April at the age of 15 years and 11 months.
I had a feeling that she wanted to come back to me as another dog and I wanted to thank you again for asking her about it. I was so excited listening to you that I didn’t get to give you my full feedback. I just wanted to let you know that everything you said made sense.
In your conversation, Sophie told you that heaven was really bright, but you didn’t even need sunglasses. Her eyes were sensitive to sunlight and they would tear, so that’s probably why.
She loved her treats, so I’m not surprised that there are big bowls of dog treats there for her. You said that there were older women (grandmother or great grandmother) there and that she thought it was wonderful because she let them pet her. My grandmother just passed away in October, so I’m sure that it was her. I once saw a picture in my mind of my grandmother petting her. Unfortunately, my grandmother never met Sophie, but I always wanted her to and I know that that doesn’t mean they can’t know each other in heaven.
Then she said that she wants to come back as a really healthy dog and that she doesn’t want itchy skin. It seemed like she really wanted to make sure to find a way to come back as a healthy dog.
Well, she was a rescue and she was only with me for three years. Shortly after she came to me we found out that she had skin cancer. She’d shed a lot. I put her on a special raw food diet, researched a lot on what supplements to give her etc. She was still in pretty good shape and we still had three great years together. She was my first dog and because of her I learned Reiki and found out about animal communication. I started studying animal communication myself, but I still have a lot to learn and practice. She has taught me so much and was a great friend.
I was in touch with a local animal communicator throughout the years and I know that Sophie felt really sorry and bad that she wasn’t healthy when she came to me.
It’s really touching to find out that she’s trying to find a way to make it back to me as a healthy dog. I was really hoping that next time around, we’d be able to spend more years together and I could watch her grow up.
I have been feeling her presence and she’s been very active in trying to let me know that she’s around so that I didn’t have to go through that devastating grief.
And as I’ve mentioned before, I have been sensing that she wants to come back to me, but since I’m not that experienced, I wasn’t sure if it was just wishful thinking. Thank you so much for the confirmation and your input. I’ve been waiting patiently and trying not to make her feel rushed. I’ve been telling her that I respect whatever she chooses to do. It’s great to know that she wants to come back to me.
So, as you can see, everything you said made absolute sense to me and I can’t thank you enough for talking to her for me.
Also, thank you so much for the show. I’m always looking forward to it every week and I’ve listened to all of them a hundred times :o) They are very informative, funny and touching and inspirational all at once!
Thank you and Ai so much for educating and entertaining us and I hope you will continue with these shows for a really long time! Hope you’ll get your own TV show one day! I’m all for it!
Love your vlogs, too! I’ve read all your blogs and I think that it’s a great way to make your listeners/readers/potential clients find out how awesome you are! There is no doubt in my mind that you have a special gift and I personally am very grateful for all that you’re sharing with us strangers! I really hope that one day I’ll be able to talk to you personally!
Blessings and love to you, Ai and your entire families and I wish you a Happy New Year! Thank you for everything that you do!
    Bubu
